In 2022, 1 in 8 people globally were living with obesity, with adult obesity more than doubling and adolescent obesity quadrupling since 1990. That year, 2.5 billion adults were overweight (43%), including 890 million with obesity (16%), while 390 million children and adolescents aged 5–19 and 35 million under-5s were also overweight.
