Meet the Board: Kerry Kemp, Vice Chair
Where do you work?
I work as an Ergonomist at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, focusing on reducing musculoskeletal injuries and improving workplace safety. My role involves conducting assessments, to evaluate ergonomic risks in tasks and environments. I also advise on equipment and workspace design, implementing ergonomic interventions that enhance safety, efficiency, and patient care.
What are the day-to-day tasks that you get involved with for NBE?
As Vice Chair, my day-to-day tasks include supporting the Chair in overseeing organisational activities, reviewing and updating policies and procedures, and contribute to strategic planning. I also mentor members that wish to become advanced members and Chair the NBE Advisory Committee. Additionally, I attend promotional events such as the Occupational Therapy (OT) Show, where we engage with professionals, promote best practices, and raise awareness of our work.
What made you want to get involved with the National Back Exchange initially?
I wanted to contribute to an organisation that shares my commitment to advancing knowledge, professional collaboration, and improving safety standards in healthcare and beyond. Joining the NBE Board of Trustees has allowed me to network with like-minded professionals and make a meaningful impact on industry practices.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy staying active through activities like walking and exploring the outdoors.
