I am a Registered General Nurse, currently working as a Moving and Handling Team Manager for Norfolk County Council. With over 20 years experience in moving and handling practice, I provide advice and support to patients with complex needs, specialising in dementia care, combative behaviours, care of the plus size person and optimised handling solutions.
I completed my MSc in Back Care Management at Loughborough University in 2008 and I am a member of the Loughborough Alumni Research Forum. I have been a member of National Back Exchange for 21 years and currently Chair of the East Anglia Group. I am co-author of the Handling of People 6th Edition and NBE publication, Dementia Care: A Behavioural Approach to Moving and Handling. I am currently Managing Editor for Column.
I am a Medalist of the Order of the British Empire, (BEM) for services to the community and charity fundraising, (Queen's New Year Honours 2022).
